For Robin Kefauver, working at Rosemore Middle School (RMS) is more than a job; it's a family tradition. As the Food Service Coordinator and Head Cook, Robin not only works alongside her oldest son, who serves as a custodian, but also delights in seeing her youngest son thrive as a 6th grader at the school. Her husband’s role in the WCS maintenance department further cements the family’s deep connection to the community.
A lifelong resident of Whitehall, Robin’s roots in the community run deep. She grew up in a home her parents owned for 53 years and attended Whitehall City Schools, just like her children. Having bought her own home in Whitehall at age 19, she has never considered living anywhere else. For Robin, Whitehall is not just where she lives; it embodies her values and lifestyle. "It’s a beautiful melting pot of diversity," she explains.
At RMS, Robin and her team serve 1,000 meals each day, but her cafeteria offers much more than just nutritious food. It is a place where students can feel valued. "We want kids to feel safe and happy in the cafeteria," Robin says. "I have a bond with these kids that’s unmatched. It’s the reason I do my job."
The most rewarding aspects of her role are the daily interactions with students and staff, highlighted by the hugs and smiles she receives, and the strong relationships she has built over the years.
Robin's story is a testament to the fulfilling careers available within Whitehall City Schools, particularly in the food service department.
