Board of Education

WCS Board of Education

Left to right: Jeff Lees, Darryl Hammock, Zach Wright, Leo Knoblauch (Vice President), and Mike Adkins (President)

The primary responsibility of the Board of Education is to establish purposes, programs and procedures which produce the educational achievement needed by district students. The Board must accomplish this while also being responsible for wise management of resources available to the District. The Board must function as a legislative body to formulate and adopt policy, by selecting an executive officer to implement policy and by evaluating the results. Further, the Board must carry out its functions openly while seeking the involvement and contributions of the public it serves.

Public Participation

We will set aside 15 minutes for our public participation section of the WCS Board of Education Meeting. You may submit a question or comment to be read to the board during the meeting. Board members are not required to respond to questions but may do so at their discretion. For the sake of efficiency, we will read comments for up to 15 minutes (up to three minutes per person/comment) and then move onto other matters of business. If you would like to have your comments or questions read during our public participation section, please email our Director of Communications, Ty Debevoise, at [email protected] with the information below. Emails are due by Thursday, February 11th, at noon, for the meeting that day. Submissions will be read in the order they are received.
