Frequently Asked Questions

Below are a number of questions we have received from our community regarding our WCS Reset-Restart 2020 plans for the upcoming school year. This page will be amended as needed. More details regarding our plan will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead as we continue planning. 
 
 
 
Where should I go to get the latest school news related to COVID-19?
We will always encourage our families to visit our website for the latest developments regarding our WCS Reset-Restart 2020 plan.

When does the 2020/2021 school year begin?
The first day of school for the 20/21 school year is August 31st.
 
Has the district provided my teacher(s) with additional professional development and training related to COVID-19?
We will have training for all staff related to COVID -19 on August 14th.  Additional training for online platforms and software will be provided to teachers and other applicable staff members during the week of August 17th.  

How do I know my child will be safe at school?
The district has put the following protocols and procedures in place for the opening of schools:
  • Staff will be provided with masks and a shield 
  • Students will be required to wear masks and maintain social distance from each other and their teachers
  • Sanitizing stations will be provided
  • Transitions will be minimized to reduce any spread
  • Staff members or students with any signs and/or symptoms will be quarantined
  • Drinking fountains will be turned off
  • Visitors and volunteer access to buildings will be very limited
  • Temperature checks will occur
  • Only 2 students will be permitted to share a seat on the buses 


How will my child complete school work from home on Level 3 and Level 4 situations (Hybrid and Remote)?
The district will provide each child with a device for the 20/21 school year. More information on distribution will be forthcoming.


Will I be notified if my child has been exposed to COVID-19?
Yes, the parents/guardians of any child exposed to COVID-19 will be notified immediately.  


Will my child be required to wear a mask?
Yes.  To maintain safety, all students and staff will be required to wear masks in public spaces.  Breaks will be given when social distancing is possible.


What do I do if my child medically cannot wear a mask?
You can share your documentation with the building secretary for review.  Once reviewed you will be contacted about the decision that was made in the best interest of your child and others.


What do I do if my child has a temperature of over 100.4?
If your child has any of the symptoms as outlined by the CDE please notify the school and keep them home.


When will I know my child’s schedule?
Depending on the county COVID-19 level, we will operate on one of the following:  



What is my child’s schedule when on the Hybrid (Level 3) Model?
Schedules are currently underway.  If yellow, your child will participate in either a Tuesday/Thursday with every other Monday rotation or a Wednesday/Friday  with every other Monday rotation.  


Will all of my children attend school on the same days?
Yes.  All children who reside in the same household will be assigned the  same schedule.
