Whitehall Art Students Recognized for Outstanding Work

Last year, Beechwood Elementary's AMAZING art teacher, Renè Sohonage, and approximately 35 5th grade students, created a giant piece of artwork that was selected to be turned into tile art in a parking garage in downtown Columbus. What they weren't expecting was the greater presence that art would provide to the city.

This past Wednesday (5/3/17), those students (who are now at Rosemore Middle School) and Mrs. Sohonage were honored at a special luncheon at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The canvas that the students painted was mounted and will be hanging in the Columbus Convention Center. It is right inside by the ballrooms and will be here for a long time! The tile art is permanently installed near the exit in the Vine Street Garage and is super cool! The best part is that the canvas that the kids painted will move permanently to be displayed in the Columbus Museum of Art after it is taken down from the Convention Center!
