WCS Board accepts heartfelt donation

WCS Board accepts heartfelt donation

At last month’s Whitehall City Schools Board of Education meeting, WCS Treasurer, Steve McAfee, asked for the approval and acceptance of a monetary donation by a long ago WCS Administrator. The donation was for $440 from the estate of Mr. Jack Brown for teacher professional development at Etna Road Elementary. Jack Brown was the principal at Etna Road Elementary and later became the principal at Gahanna Lincoln High School. He passed away on Saturday, March 19th, at the age of 96.

(His full obituary can be found here)

His daughter, Rhonda Keels, wrote a very nice card to Steve. Enclosed was a check for $440 and two photos of Jack at Etna Road Elementary.

The card reads:

Steve,

Here is a check using the remainder of my father’s funds to be used for professional development of Etna Road teachers. Good public schools were very important to my father and I’m sure you can put it to good use. I’m sending along a couple of old photos for your records. Maybe you can share them.

He saved quite a few letters and notes from students, parents, teachers, and other administrators. What is made clear by them is that many of the joys, struggles, and sorrows are the same.

Best regards,

Rhonda K. Keels

Thank you, Jack, for your service to Whitehall City Schools. Rest in peace.
