Walter Armes - Vice President

Walter Armes has been a Whitehall School Board member for 23 years. He and wife, Jean, have lived in Whitehall since 1968. Jean is a retired Whitehall elementary teacher and currently substitute teaches in Whitehall. Their two daughters, Christina and Rebecca, attended Whitehall city schools K-12. Both have earned their Masters degrees and are involved in education.

Mr. Armes earned a Bachelor’s degree from Ohio Northern University, a Master of Science degree from Indiana State University, and has completed post graduate work at The Ohio State University. He is a retired educator having taught in Crawford, Lake, Trumbull, Franklin, and Licking counties. He was a teacher and administrator at the Eastland Career Center. He was also vocational supervisor at the Licking County JVS in Newark. Currently he supervises field experience students and student teachers at Ashland University Columbus. He also officiates track and field from junior high through college levels.

Mr. Armes has been active in the Ohio School Boards Association where he has received the Award of Achievement, Master Board member award, and a 2011 All Ohio School Board member award. He is a past OSBA central region President, OSBA board of trustee and executive committee member and an OSBA federal relations contact person. Armes is a past member of the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators, and Ohio Education Association executive committees.
